PLATTE CANTEEN , NORTH PLATTE , NEBRASKA ....1941-1945
I was 3-1/2 years old when Pearl Harbor was attacked. We lived in St Louis and I can remember soldiers coming into St. Louis by bus and train. One of these was my mothers cousin. I thought he was so tall. As a 4 year old he looked tall to me but I found out later he was really not very tall.
I remember mom telling us that Julius, her cousin, had left his wallet on top of the pay phone at the train station after making a call to our house. My dad took them back down to the train station and the wallet was still there. Bet that wouldn't happen today.
