Veterans and Remembrance Day

Happy Veterans Day to our US Military and a
respectful Remembrance Day for our Canadian Military
Today is the day that we remember all the men and women that served in our military.  Your MVC officers wish each our US veterans a Happy Veterans Day and heartfelt wishes for a dignified day to our Canadian members on Remembrance Day.  Thank you all for your service. We also extend our thank you to the family of the service member.  Our families sacrificed a lot for us.

102nd (Summer 2020) FMCA International Convention and RV Expo.
Dear FMCA Member,
FMCA’s Executive Board has voted to withdraw from contract negotiations to stage the association’s 102nd International Convention & RV Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, July 29 through August 1, 2020.

After many months of waiting to receive a contract for signature, the Executive Board determined that the time had come for FMCA to look for another location to stage this event.  FMCA officials are currently busy vetting other sites for the association’s 2020 summer convention and hope to have an announcement about a selected location in the coming weeks. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause members.

I hope to see you at a future FMCA event. Remember — registration is underway now for our 101st convention in Tucson, Arizona, March 26 through 29, 2020.
Sincerely,

Jon Walker

A message from newly elected President Bob Weithofer:

Thank you for electing me your president. I greatly appreciate the vote of confidence and your trust.

I want to thank all of the current officers and those that just left office for their work to keep this chapter moving forward. Without their many hours of dedicated effort this chapter would not exist.

At our recent business meeting in Minot, several questions were asked about what we do as a chapter. This chapter is first and foremost a chapter of military veterans and active military.
  • We have a pre-rally before each FMCA Convention, twice a year. These pre-rallies provide an opportunity for social interaction among our members.
  • We provide color guards for National and Area rallies when requested.
  • We seek opportunities to recognize our veterans and active military and their families at all FMCA events.
  • We provide support for veterans and active military through donations and projects. We are looking to expand this role.

This is your chapter. If you have questions or suggestions please contact the chapter.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUSITY!

Thanks to the generous donations of those that attended the Tri-Chapter rally (MVC, Full-Timers, and Elks) we raised $300 for the YWCA Women and Children's shelter.  That check was presented to them on Monday, August 19th.   The pre-rally and the National Convention were hugely successful with many new members for each chapter.  Thank you everyone for your help and support.

Happy Fourth of July/Independence Day!

Happy Independence Day!
Happy Fourth of July!

Independence Day is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to the monarch of Britain and were now united, free, and independent states. The Congress had voted to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2, but it was not declared until July 4.

Happy Canada Day!
Bonne fête du Canada!
The MVC is proud of our Canadian veterans and military. July 1st is Canada Day. Canada Day is the national day of Canada, just like Independence/Fourth of July is in the United States. Canada Day is a federal statutory holiday, it celebrates the anniversary of July 1, 1867, the effective date of the Constitution Act, 1867, which united the three separate colonies of the Province of Canada, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a single Dominion within the British Empire called Canada. Originally called Dominion Day, the holiday was renamed in 1982, the year the Canada Act was passed. Canada Day celebrations take place throughout the country, as well as in various locations around the world, attended by Canadians living abroad.

Minot Pre-Rally

The deadline to register for the Minot Pre-Rally has passed.  Remember, the campground changed the deadline from July 10 to June 10th.  A mass email was sent out to everyone with that information, a new flyer, and all our social media sites were updated with that information.  If you did not receive the email, check your email settings, spam folder, etc.

Memorial Day is here. Please remember the reason for the weekend and holiday. A time set a side to remember the men and women in uniform that gave their life for our freedoms. It is not about those currently serving (that is Armed Forces Day) or those that served whether they are still with us or have passed away (that is Veterans Day). It is time to show our respect and gratitude to the families of those that made the ultimate sacrifice and to honor the memory, courage, and honor of those that have fallen.

Are Your Receiving the Chapter Emails?

Hello everyone! This is Rev. Richard "Doc" Strait, your FMCA-MVC Alternate National Director and Interim Communications Director. The FMCA-MVC has sent out many emails since last year. Recently we have had many people complain about not receiving emails. This is due to a few reasons. Here are the top five and in no particular order. One, you changed email addresses and did not notify the chapter of your new email address. Two, your email address may have been entered incorrectly into the chapter roster and thus the emails to you from the chapter are bouncing back. Three, the emails are going to your spam folder. Four, you Unsubscribed from our email list or have blocked us. Fifth, the chapter does not have an email address for you. There are other reasons yet those are the top five. If you are NOT receiving emails from the Military & Veterans Chapter and you should be, please send an email to MilitaryVeterans.FMCA@Gmail.com. Provide your first and last name and your FMCA number. I can then look you up on the roster and in the email program and verify your email address. Best regards, Rev. Richard "Doc" Strait, USN Retired FMCA-MVC Alternate National Director & Interim Communications Director.
